Tickle artists #171: interview with Codricor1

1) Do you want to tell us something about yourself and your art?

Hello, my name’s Codricor1 ^^ I’m an online artist who makes 2D art with a very manga/comic inspired style, of course I also specialize in tickling art, the most ticklish and desperate I can make a character look better! 😀

I love making customized tickling and BDSM scenarios for the characters I draw (or “DOOM” for those who follow my stuff). Which basically means, set ups that can work as unescapable tickling situations for the characters I choose to draw 😀

I also love making comics and pictures with my OCs, making more with them really keeps me motivated!

2) What techniques do you use to draw? Do you have a favorite artist that inspires you?

I draw on my tablet, an old Wacom Intuos Pro with Clip Studio Paint, I draw on a very “anime” style so I guess that may be my most prominent technique when making color stuffs, but lately as I work more often on comics and “manga” like pages I am really experimenting with the B/W style.

I think the one artist I look up to the most from the tickling side may be Pirata3, a veteran of the community and someone who’s art I have seen since before I started posting online. I still think he’s one of the best around! really inspired my style into what it is today ^^

There are plenty more awesome artists of course like Bad-Pierrot, Kusujinn, Lostonezero, wtfeather among many more I have seen and met over the years!

3) How much was the passion for drawing born in you? And the one for the tickle?

I think ever since I was a kid I loved to draw anytime I could, surely my teachers weren’t too happy when I used to draw in high school instead of paying attention to the classes. I got very into it when I was a teenager, tried copying comics and manga pages I had at hand at the time and slowly picked up a few things from their styles until I more or less built up my own, still have a long way to go I think.

As for my passion for the tickles that may be more simple… ever since I was young I realized I liked the scenes in tv shows, movies and comics in which the female heroine finds herself captured and “interrogated” with tickling... I think I quickly realized I had a thing for it… Combine my passion for drawing and my like for ticklish helpless heroiness and you may easily see how codricor1 came to be XD

4) What are the tickling scenarios that you prefer to draw?

I like to draw tickling torture and unescapable scenarios fitting for the characters I do. I know what I do is mostly fanart, but I like to keep some sort of “logic” to the situations related to the characters, or at least something that fits them as well as trying to respect their personalities (as much as a trapped and tickled character can show)

Over the years I have grow to really like full body bondage and tickling torture situations! the idea of total helplessness as well as focused tickling on the most ticklish spots makes for a powerful image! 😀

P.S. Cool badass girls turn into a ticklish giggling mess! That’s my favourite!

5) What are the aspects of tickling that you intend to represent with your art? Example: the laughing, the wriggling, the relationship between tickler and ticklee?

I think what I like to represent the most in my tickling art may be the ticklish desperation and “helplessness” of a character. Before I even start a picture I like to brainstorm and make a small research of the character I am working with, their powers, their feats, their weakness or what world they live in. Once I understand what they can and can’t do, it becomes a fun exercise of “how can I make sure this character can’t escape the situation and what can I draw to make sure she’s hella ticklish!”

It’s like finding ways to defeat a “boss” exploiting their weaknesses and where creativity is the limit!

I also try to respect the character’s personalities to some degree, but that’s up to each viewer to judge ^^

6) Online there are countless photos and videos of tickling sessions. In your opinion, what do illustrations offer more than images of real life?

I think illustrations offer the possibility to go beyond the realms of reality, since it’s all fiction, you can draw MAGIC scenarios, sci-fi ticklish situations, plenty of creative, crazy and out of the box situations. Allowing creativity and skill to set the limit of what an artist can do. It’s really beautiful to see what people can come up with that would never be possible irl.

In the end it’s all fiction so it’s fun to find and create new ways in which someone can get tickled to tears. Of course there is also the option to draw your favourite characters in ticklish situations of your like! That’s always a big win! haha

7) In your opinion, what makes tickling so interesting for fans of this phenomenon?

I guess the easy answer it may be that it’s a fetish, which means from the get go there are plenty of people who enjoy the tickling and anything related to it, but even from people who I know don’t have a tickling fetish, they can see the appeal on “playing” with the senses of a partner, “poking” their funny bones or just enjoy the feeling of control over a ticklish ticklee, it’s really a matter of what you looking for, from a playful foreplay to a more “kinky” situation or from an intense to a more contain and relax tickling session. It all depends on who you ask for, Heck I have even know of people who think the fetish is “cute” XD

In my case I really like that something so “silly” as tickling can be quite a strong and unavoidable weakness for a character. They can be strong, powerful and badass! but they can’t escape their own ticklishness!

8) What are your works of which you are most proud?

Oof…. that’s a hard question… I feel many artists are their worse judges… and I am not the exception XD

I think if we talk about complexity and details (as well as hours to get it done) the works I’m most proud of may be the Zenless Zone Zero pictures I did in the past, the soldier 11 one was HUGE as well as the Koleda and Grace one.

Now If we talking about a more personal feeling of accomplish, I am super happy to be able to create my own comics with my Hexcellent series 😀

as well as loving to make my OCs go wild with tickles XD

9)Do you have any particular artistic goal?

Currently I am working on a few projects, a “sfw” comic with my friend Master417 titled “Ale and Eria Magic Time” .

with our OCs in a fun comedy comic. There is also my fetish comic “Hexcellent” with Ale and Eria too… but in a more “familiar” ticklish environment.

However I hope in the future I can make my own action comic outside of the community! that would be awesome!

10)Do you think AIs will end up enriching or impoverishing the art of tickling representations?

I know the AI topic can be very delicate….some people are very angry and against it, some others prefer to use it for quick results and fast “enjoyment” I honestly am a caveman when it comes to computer stuff …. so I don’t even know how to use AI haha.

If anything, with the amount of AI content online, It may be hard for the new artists to compete and get to be known when they have to face the IA constantly on the feed, as well as some who will prefer to just produce AI content rather than drawing or creating their own stuff.

In the end AI is just a tool, and it can be used to help people learn and create with the proper mindset. ^^ It depends on who’s behind the keyboard, but we should not forget that the human touch is what really defines art, our own imperfections, flaws and mistakes are what builds our styles and that’s what can lead to our improvement and progress.
