Hana-Kimi, also known as Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (For You in Full Blossom), is a shōjo manga series written and illustrated by Hisaya Nakajo. Serialized from 1996 to 2004 in Hana to Yume magazine by Hakusensha, it spans 23 volumes and blends romance, comedy, and sports themes. The story follows Mizuki Ashiya, a Japanese girl living in the US, who idolizes high jumper Izumi Sano after seeing him on TV.
Mizuki moves to Japan, disguises herself as a boy, and enrolls in the all-boys Osaka Gakuen high school to be near Sano, becoming his roommate without him initially knowing her secret. She aims to reignite his passion for high jumping, which he has abandoned, while navigating dorm life, friendships, and close calls that threaten to expose her gender—especially after the school doctor, Hokuto Umeda, and Sano discover the truth. The narrative includes side stories like Natsu no Ori and Kawaki no Tsuki, emphasizing humor from gender-bending antics and character dynamics.
