“Looking Up to Magical Girls,” also known as “Gushing over Magical Girls” or “Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete,” is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akihiro Ononaka. It follows Utena Hiiragi, a shy middle school girl obsessed with the magical girl trio Tres Magia who protect her town.
A mascot named Venalita grants Utena transformation powers, but instead of becoming a hero, she joins the villainous Enormita organization as Magia Baiser. Utena discovers her sadistic side, reveling in humiliating and tormenting her idols through battles filled with fanservice, fetish elements like tickling torture, and comedic dominance.

The story subverts magical girl tropes with ecchi comedy, heavy yuri undertones, and explicit sadomasochistic scenes where villains overpower and “punish” the heroines in vulnerable positions. It blends action, humiliation, and character growth as Utena embraces her villainy while recruiting quirky allies like Kiwi and facing internal Enormita betrayals
Tickling scenes in “Looking Up to Magical Girls”
The anime and manga Looking Up to Magical Girls (Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete / Gushing Over Magical Girls) contains several tickling scenes used as “soft” torture and domination between the villainess and the magical girls. These moments mix comedy, humiliation and fanservice rather than innocent play.
The tickling usually happens after the heroines are captured, with their arms or bodies restrained so they cannot protect their most sensitive spots. In most portrayals the focus is on exposing vulnerable areas (feet, sides, underarms, stomach) and forcing helpless laughter out of the girls.
Manga (chapter 2 and chapter 10)
In “Looking Up to Magical Girls” (also known as “Gushing over Magical Girls”) Chapter 2, a tickling scene unfolds as part of the villain protagonist Utena Hiiragi’s sadistic assault on the magical girl team Tres Magia.
Utena, transformed into the villain Magia Baiser, encounters the magical girls at a shrine where one of them, Magia Azure (Sayo Minakami), serves as a miko. Mannequins summoned by Utena restrain the heroines in vulnerable positions, exposing their bodies for torment.
The mannequins initiate tickling torture—a playful yet torturous method familiar from childhood games—targeting the girls’ sensitive spots like feet, sides, and underarms, causing uncontrollable laughter and squirming. Utena revels in their helpless reactions, amplifying her dominance with additional sadistic elements like wax play from a candle monster.

The scene highlights Utena’s emerging villainous pleasure in dominating her idols, blending comedy, fetishism, and action as the magical girls struggle before the encounter escalates and forces a retreat.

Anime (ep. 1 and episode 7)
“Looking Up to Magical Girls” features several explicit tickling scenes in its anime adaptation, primarily in episodes 1-3, where the villainess Magia Baiser uses tickle torture as a humiliating domination tactic against the magical girl team Tres Magia. These moments emphasize fanservice, helpless laughter, and sadistic glee, often with restraints exposing feet, sides, armpits, and stomachs.
In the premiere, shortly after Utena transforms into Magia Baiser, she overpowers Magia Magenta in their first clash and pins her down for intense tickling on her soles and torso. Magenta bursts into uncontrollable giggles and pleas, squirming futilely as Baiser teases her sensitivity, marking Utena’s discovery of her villainous pleasure.
Baiser ambushes the full Tres Magia trio at a shrine, summoning mannequins that bind them in spread-eagle positions for prolonged multi-person tickling assaults. The girls endure feather-light scratches and digging fingers across their bodies, producing tears of laughter and desperate begs amid Baiser’s mocking commentary, blending it with wax drips for added torment.
