1) Do you want to tell us something about yourself and your art?
Hi, I’m Mariogamer1118. I’ve been in this game of art making since I was in my mid-teens, I recall, and I just saw in my email inbox that it’s been around 14 years since I first joined DeviantArt, so I feel like it’s definitely been a fun ride, even if there have been some low points.
Leggi tutto: Tickle artists #162: interview with Mariogamer11182) What techniques do you use to draw? Do you have a favorite artist that inspires you?
Most of the time in recent years, I’ve been using pre-done renders, and making small tweaks to them to make them work better in tickling scenarios, but I do still enjoy taking the time to actually draw something by hand in MS Paint, every now and then. As far as inspirations go…I don’t know if I can say I was necessarily inspired by them, because both of them have around a less longer time than I have, but I’ve really been liking what TheTrappedDreamer and Jynthewise have shared in the tickling world.
3) How much was the passion for drawing born in you? And the one for the tickle?
I’ve always been into art and drawing stuff, way back when I was a little, little kid. And around that time, I had watched this one particular Elmo’s World segment, that was all about feet. Nothing came about from watching it the first time around, but when I think of how I first found my interest in feet and tickling, I think of that segment, every time.

4) What are the tickling scenarios that you prefer to draw?
My favorite kind of tickling has always been licking, primarily from animals, like dogs. And tying back into the Elmo’s World segment, that was also what made dog-licking my favorite kind of niche. I also personally prefer it to human licking, because people are fully conscious, and aware of what they’re doing, while dogs have a bit more innocence to them, and are maybe just swayed by a coating of peanut butter or something.
5) What are the aspects of tickling that you intend to represent with your art? Example: the laughing, the wriggling, the relationship between tickler and ticklee?
Definitely the laughing and wriggling around, I think, but I also like drawing the ticklee’s removed shoes and socks sitting a distance away from them, it’s like the one single source of protection from their feet getting tickled is just out of their reach, and teasing them while they’re busy laughing helplessly.
6) Online there are countless photos and videos of tickling sessions. In your opinion, what do illustrations offer more than images of real life?
I feel like it has to do with how doing character cosplay like April O’Neil can be appealing to certain people, but it’s still just somebody in a costume at the end of the day, while with drawings, you can actually make these characters resemble how they initially looked in their source material.

7) In your opinion, what makes tickling so interesting for fans of this phenomenon?
It’s hard to say honestly. Like, sometimes I don’t even know why I enjoy this kind of stuff personally, when I would never condone doing it to anybody in real life, unless they give approval for it, but regardless, it’s a part of me I’m happy with, and I wouldn’t want to be rid of it for the world.
8) What are your works of which you are most proud?
Definitely my latest piece of work, that was also a birthday gift I had done for Jynthewise. As fun as it is, using and making changes to pre-existing renders to make them feel more flowing, it’s also just as satisfying for me, when I’m still able to actually focus on my own skills.

9) Do you have any particular artistic goals for the future?
Don’t really have a true goal, honestly, I’m just here to share the love of tickling, with those who also have that same love. Nothing too complex.
10) Do you think AIs will end up enriching or impoverishing the art of tickling representations?
Errrrg, I won’t deny that AI has been able to make some legitimately accurate looking pieces of art every now and then, but I just could never get behind it. It comes off as being done without the heart or the love for the medium, and doing this stuff on my own terms just feels more fulfilling.
