Tickle Artists #7: Interview with Restif

1) Do you want to tell us something about yourself and your art?

Hi, I’m Restif. Been doing some varieties of 3d art since 2000. Started with Poser/Bryce and a lot of years working in Carrara. Then the last many years in DAZ and most recently iclone and unreal.

I created my first gallery at Renderosity and it was, as stated in my bio there, a gallery to showcase Adrea. Adrea was created a decade prior for a novel I wrote, Keepers of Wrath, and I found her so enchanting I created a gallery for her. From there other characters I’ve called Sirens have found a place in my gallery.

Of course, all are almost always barefoot and all are fortunately very ticklish.

Lately, My main focus is to bring my Sirens to life via animation work in Iclone and, most recently, Unreal Engine. This is so much fun to do.

2) What techniques do you use to draw? Do you have a favorite artist that inspires you?

I’m not a drawer, but over the years have developed my characters using primarily DAZ base meshes with customized textures. Some work with sculpting in Blender has been helpful too.

Lots of artists have inspired me over the years, one of the very early Bryce / Poser artists is James Lee at the Renderosity gallery. Don’t know where this artist is any longer but he was one of the first to show me what can be done in 3D. 

Of course, all the classics, Frazetta, Boris and many others are always on my mind.

3) How much was the passion for drawing born in you? And the one for the tickle?

Again, drawing I loved but was never any good at it. Finding 3D I found an outlet to get out the images that were stuck in my head. Tickling? Always. I do enjoy depicting a pretty girl’s foot tickled, though I would say I am equally a foot fetishist and tickle fetishist.

4) What are the tickling scenarios that you prefer to draw?

I love doing both Scifi tickling work and Dungeon Tickle pics.

5) What are the aspects of tickling that you intend to represent with your art? Example: the laughing, the wriggling, the relationship between tickler and ticklee?

I’d say laughing and struggling are what I try to capture as best as I can.

6) Online there are countless photos and videos of tickling sessions. In your opinion, what do illustrations offer more than images of real scenes?

Well I do aim for realism for sure, but since there is an endless amount of tickling and feet photos out there, I think art can capture the feeling of the passion better. And also, different styles of art really do capture it better than mine for sure.

7) In your opinion, what makes tickling so interesting for fans of this phenomenon?

I think it is something that is just in you. I have found so many variations in just the foot fetish community not to mention the tickling community. Some are upper body, some love the ticklish agony, some the playful nature of tickling. Tickling is aggression, but disguised a bit. Everyone is different.

8) What are your works of which you are most proud?

Oh, hard to say. Obviously, the creation of Adrea from her early Victoria 4 days to her current Genesis 3 persona is my best achievement. Also, creating a whole harem of beautiful ticklish Sirens.

9) Do you have any particular artistic goals for the future?

To create nice animations featuring my Sirens. To start animating Keepers of Wrath and do some Barefoot Archaeologist animated adventures. Ticklish ones of course 🙂

10) Do you think AIs will end up enriching or impoverishing the art of tickling representations?

Like all tech innovations, it depends. It opens it up for many to explore their own visions butcan over saturate it with over slick, lifeless work. Still there is some great work I’ve seen with this. Same could be said for DAZ stuff so I don’t throw stones. So long as the work is from you and your expression, I think AI can be a great asset.
