Tickle Artists #16: Interview with Felix Firefox

1) Do you want to tell us something about yourself and your art?

Okay, lets start with me ^_^, well, I’m Felix Firefox, I’m just an ordinary guy who happens love to drawing anything, turn professional 22 years ago, start with local publisher, and do an indie comic stuff, online comic etc. About my art… a bit mixed from manga and other style XD

2) What techniques do you use to draw? Do you have a favorite artist that inspires you?

Techniques, nothing special, I used to draw in traditional medium, but not fully digital (make it a lot faster and easier ^_^) My favorite artist.. a lot! There are so many comic artists that have influenced me, from Mazakazu Katsura, Akira Torimaya, Stan Lee and more..

3) How much was the passion for drawing born in you? And the one for the tickle?

Like i’ve been mentioned before, start when I was kid as a hobby, then grow up and able to make it as a job (very grateful for that) until now ^_^

Back then I had a commission to do a comic about Tickle, it was a new concept for me, but the feedback from this kind of genre is great! so I start to explore more and delve more, so far so good XD

4) What are the tickling scenarios that you prefer to draw?

I never put a boundary over my art and prefer it, so any scenario present I’m willing to go through.

5) What are the aspects of tickling that you intend to represent with your art? Example: the laughing, the wriggling, the relationship between tickler and ticklee?

Well, any of it! that makes this genre is good, I think any reader can relate to any emotion in this tickle things, but one aspect is mostly amuse (if I can use this word ^_^) me, the struggling that the ticklee eager to go through ^_^

6) Online there are countless photos and videos of tickling sessions. In your opinion, what do illustrations offer more than images of real scenes?

I think in illustration, readers can be absorbed in tickling situations more than in real life (where we only present as a spectator), in comic we can read their minds, feeling their struggle and also view it by scene, maybe that way we feels represents in this kind of situation also?

7) In your opinion, what makes tickling so interesting for fans of this phenomenon?

Yeah, tickling is an activity that we can do whenever or whatever, I bet everyone ever does it once (or more.. or a lot more XD), so it’s very relatable with us. Then when this activity gets more recognition with other additional stuff like story, playful banter etc. more fans are interested in it.

8) What are your works of which you are most proud?

Well, I’m always proud of my works, but I’m still learning, so maybe I will be more proud on my future works XD

9) Do you have any particular artistic goals for the future?

I’m always have an interest in animation, maybe in the future I will make it and do this tickling adventures in animation, I’m starting Youtube with this genre. hopefully I can do better in the future.

10) Do you think AIs will end up enriching or impoverishing the art of tickling representations?

It’s a bit concerns over this AIs, many my fellow traditional artist feel worry about this AIs overtakes our job ^_^

but in my opinion, nothing beats true art with a soulful artworks!
