1) Do you want to tell us something about yourself and your art?
I’m DiamondArt27. I’m an illustration artist in the cartoon/anime style, focusing on tickling and foot art. I like to mix well-known characters with situations of tying up and tickling torture, always focusing on exaggerated expressions and reactions. It’s a theme that combines humor, tension, and dynamics between characters. That’s where I found my identity as an artist.
Leggi tutto: Tickle artists #164: Interview with DiamondArt1272) What techniques do you use to draw? Do you have a favorite artist that inspires you?
I draw 100% digitally using Clip Studio Paint and Procreate. I do clean line art, flat colors, and simple cell-shading to maintain the cartoon vibe. I’m inspired by tickle art artists like RJ Palmer for his dynamic style, and by anime like Demon Slayer and Batman: The Animated Series. From the mainstream, Akira Toriyama influences me with his expressiveness.
3) How much was the passion for drawing born in you? And the one for the tickle?
I’ve been drawing since I was a child, always doodling in my notebook. My passion for tickling came with the internet: I discovered tickling art communities in 2015 and fell in love with the idea of telling a story using only body language. Besides tickling, I really enjoy drawing feet. I joined DeviantArt in 2022, unfortunately I lost my account, but I’m still going strong and want to grow again.
4) What are the tickling scenarios that you prefer to draw?
My favorite scenarios are: 1. Captured superhero, like Poison Ivy with Catwoman and Livewire. 2. Torture of feet tied with feathers, brushes or spiders. 3. Sequential comics showing the escalation of the reaction until “I can’t take it anymore”.

5) What are the aspects of tickling that you intend to represent with your art? Example: the laughing, the wriggling, the relationship between tickler and ticklee?
The main thing is the expression: uncontrollable laughter, closed eyes, tears, body contorting. I also focus on the power dynamic, with the one doing the tickling in control and the one receiving while he is vulnerable. Even though it’s “torture,” I try to maintain a playful atmosphere, never a heavy one.
6) Online there are countless photos and videos of tickling sessions. In your opinion, what do illustrations offer more than images of real life?
Illustration gives me total freedom. I can depict Mother Spider tickling Tanjiro without relying on cosplay or physics. I exaggerate expressions impossible in real life and mix universes, creating characters with powers. I have 100% control over the visual narrative.
7) In your opinion, what makes tickling so interesting for fans of this phenomenon?
What’s appealing is vulnerability + humor. Tickling leaves anyone defenseless, even the strongest. It’s intimate without being explicit. It’s one of the few “tortures” that elicits laughter instead of screams. This contrast is addictive for those who enjoy it.

8) What are your works of which you are most proud?
The Demon Slayer art makes me most proud. Managing to fit 3 heroes + villain + spiders into a dynamic composition was challenging. I also like the comic strip sequence, because telling a story only with images is a test I enjoy.
9) Do you have any particular artistic goals for the future?
Short term: improve the anatomy of feet and hands, which are the focus of the niche. Long term: launch an original webcomic just about tickling, with its own lore and without depending on fanart. My goal is to live off commissions on the subject.
10) Do you think AIs will end up enriching or impoverishing the art of tickling representations?
AI is just a tool. It can enrich brainstorming and posing, but it impoverishes if the person only types prompts without identity. No tickling, AI doesn’t grasp the nuances of laughter mixed with despair and amusement. For now, human art still has a place because of its unique expression.
