1) Do you want to tell us something about yourself and your art?
Hi, we are Honeypop. We’d like to take this opportunity to tell you more about us. We are two people, one male and one female, who started this project anonymously.
Leggi tutto: Tickling Artists #70: Interview with HoneypopIt all began with the male artist exploring his fetishes, as he was feeling confused. Where I live, not everyone expresses their fetishes casually. Thanks to OnlyFans (before the pandemic), we found a way to move forward together. During that time, I could count on female friends to help sell photos and commissions. We actually used the profile of my female artist partner and a friend’s account to maintain some anonymity. And that’s how our adventure started in 2019.
Thanks to this, we managed to overcome many adversities after an economic collapse, losing our equipment, and maintaining the consistency in our illustration work.
2) What techniques do you use to draw? Do you have a favorite artist that inspires you?
I usually use digital illustration, photo manipulation (this depends on the project; sometimes clients want me to trace an image or create a collage, as I have experience in editorial work with magazines that needed to produce content quickly), and creating illustrations from scratch. I can also “imitate” the style of the cartoon I’m commissioned to do.
All of this was inspired by the artist Scott Blairart (Instagram: @scottblairart), who motivated me to draw feet.
3) How much was the passion for drawing born in you? And the one for the tickle?
Since I was a child, I have drawn many pop culture characters. I was aware of the tickling fetish but experienced it more deeply since I started as Honeypop!, thanks to my followers and clients.
4) What are the tickling scenarios that you prefer to draw?
I like drawing rooms because of the comfort and intimacy they provide, allowing one to relax and enjoy the experience.
5) What are the aspects of tickling that you intend to represent with your art? Example: the laughing, the wriggling, the relationship between tickler and ticklee?
Since I’m still practicing, I’d say the facial expressions of laughter and the character’s satisfaction. I haven’t focused much on the tickler and ticklee dynamic yet, but when I do, I hope to convey a connection and enjoyment between them.
6) Online there are countless photos and videos of tickling sessions. In your opinion, what do illustrations offer more than images of real scenes?
Illustrations offer a fictional approach, combining your character with the artist’s style and a sense of intimacy for those who appreciate it.
I love the soles of the feet and their texture; for me, it’s a unique intimacy to have them close. It’s something I try to convey. For example, eating an apple allows me to capture the emotion and satisfaction of eating it, and as an artist, I try to offer that experience.
Interestingly, some people request commissions that they don’t want published (which is sad because it’s good material), like a private photo between them and the character (whether they appear in the image or not).
I think as artists, we can bring to life the illustrations you’ve fantasized about for years, especially when created by someone who enjoys the subject.
7) In your opinion, what makes tickling so interesting for fans of this phenomenon?
It’s a fun activity that can be cathartic for relieving stress. From our limited experience, it’s an intriguing topic, and I’d love to explore it more deeply with others, as reactions can vary greatly.
8) What are your works of which you are most proud?
A Marvel piece, a photo montage that I liked and would have as a poster from the “Hawkeye” series.
9) Do you have any particular artistic goals for the future?
To create my own characters, manage my time better to develop higher-tier comics, gather photos and material for content, and collaborate with a foot fetish model.
10) Do you think AIs will end up enriching or impoverishing the art of tickling representations?
As I mentioned in question 6, human artists have the ability to capture experiences using our five senses, which AI cannot. This is where my duality lies. As an established artist, I can reuse and modify parts of images to create new ones. This can be beneficial as long as we continue to develop our skills by drawing by hand, copying, or tracing to learn and not neglecting our studies.
So far, I haven’t used AIs. I’m curious to see where it goes, as it’s inevitable that AI will gather information from various sources.
