Mary Elizabeth Winstead is an American actress and singer, born on November 28, 1984, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and largely raised in Sandy, Utah. She began her career in the performing arts as a dancer, training at the Joffrey Ballet School, before transitioning into acting as a teenager.

Winstead first gained attention for her role as Jessica Bennett on the NBC soap opera Passions (1999–2000). She became widely recognized for her performances in horror and genre films such as Final Destination 3 (2006), Black Christmas (2006), and Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof (2007), earning a reputation as a “scream queen” by the end of the 2000s.
