She gained international fame thanks to her role as Gabriella Montez in the Disney Channel film series High School Musical, which marked a turning point in her career and made her an icon for a generation of young viewers. Before this success, she had already begun working in show business, participating in musical theater productions as a child and landing her first film role in Thirteen in 2003.
