Vanessa Hudgens is an American actress and singer, born on December 14, 1988, in Salinas, California. She gained international fame thanks to her role as Gabriella Montez in the Disney Channel film series High School Musical, which marked a turning point in her career and made her an icon for a generation of young viewers. Before this success, she had already begun working in show business, participating in musical theater productions as a child and landing her first film role in Thirteen in 2003.
